When you get down to it
, there are hundreds, maybe thousands, of tools, resources and specific pieces of knowledge every business owner must have to succeed. Once you have a potentially viable business idea in mind, most of the other needs can be put into five categories.

1. Knowledge and Skills

Successful entrepreneurs must have (or develop) a broad range of knowledge and skills. From organizational skills to people skills, from business fundamentals to detailed operations
, an entrepreneur is responsible for it all. Sure, you will be your own boss, but also your own accountant, attorney, marketing department, production line
, salesman and secretary. And you have to play all these roles like a pro if you want to succeed!

2. Information

Seasoned entrepreneurs are fountains of information. New entrepreneurs have to learn where to find what they need to know and must be able to retain and synthesize the information they gather. They also need the ability to quickly analyze and assess the data. The internet offers a wealth of free information, but much of it is worth exactly what you pay for it -- nothing. Before you launch your big idea, you need to absorb volumes of information on every aspect of running a business -- marketing, networking, financial management, employment
, legal issues, compliance, and the list goes on. With a shrinking world and shorter attention spans in the marketplace, successful entrepreneurs must always be gathering the latest news and trends. Paying attention to what is going on within the industry and the business world is a critical aspect of keeping any venture current and relevant.

3. The Right Tools

Any startup with plans for growth or even turning a minimal profit must have certain tolls in place. Computers and peripherals plus internet access is as important in business today as was a pen in generations past. Small business software, including an accounting system is critical. Posting a website is quickly becoming a necessity for every type of venture. Cellular phones are standard, as are organizational and planning systems. Regardless of what the "get-rich-quick-and-for-free" scammers try to tell us
, any business with any chance of success must have the appropriate tools to succeed.

4. Support

Entrepreneurship is a difficult road and almost impossible to navigate completely alone. Worse, if the people closest to you don't support your effort 100%, it can be very difficult to stay motivated and avoid discouragement. You may need financial support, moral support, or even startup support from an expert, but every entrepreneur needs a support system to help keep them on track. Don't underestimate the importance of this -- startups can include some very dark days. The better your support system
, the easier it will be to butch through and re-energize.

5. Desire

Entrepreneurship requires the drive, commitment, and perseverance that come from a desire to succeed. You must want to be smarter, better and faster than your competitors. You must want to build a loyal following in your customers. If the will is weak, the business will fail. An overwhelming desire to succeed can overcome any number of limitations and setbacks. Without it, those obstacles might as well be mile-high brick walls. Many people who visited Spain decide eventually to stay and reside in the country for various reasons. Some decides to relocate because of the comfortable and invigorating climate. They love the sun and around the quiet beaches. Some stays because of the rich Spanish culture and the beautifully woven history and equally beautiful warm-hearted people. But other than the sheer beauty that draws foreigners in this country
, other appeals that people appreciates is Spain's cheaper property prices, no-stress lifestyle, the affordable living costs, low taxes, less traffic and pollution and it's even lower crime rate. Some decides to reside in Spain either because they have family relations in Spain, especially for those elderly people approaching retirement
, or because they want get themselves a high paying job with a lesser living expense. If these reasons fits in your list, then no wonder you will want to live in Spain.

The first thing people generally do when they decide to stay in Spain is to buy a property or arrange for some stuffs to make their stay official. But if you decide to relocate in Spain, you can not just legally own properties or houses nor will you be able to enter into a contract for your electricity, water or telephone lines without applying for an NIE number. So the first thing you have to do is to set out and apply for your NIE number.

What is an NIE number? NIE number or known in Spanish as "N煤mero de Identificaci贸n de Extranjero", is a tax identification number in Spain. It is translated as "Identification Number for Foreigners" and is issued by the National Police of Spain to track your activities like when you buy off properties or would like to buy your own car. This allows you to pay your taxes on all your purchases. You also have to apply for an NIE for instances like when you want to set up your business in Spain, or apply for a credit card
, loans, Spanish driving license, or when you have assets that are in Spain and even when you plan for your kids to stay and study in Spain.

Without an NIE number it is impossible for you to secure insurance policies, sign on for Spain's National Social Security, Health Services and get the employment you need. NIE helps you to arrange various things that you need to accomplish in Spain, because the first thing non-government and government agencies look for is your NIE number
, ensuring that you are doing things legally.

NIE number is a form of fiscal control for the government of Spain over those non-resident property owners. It is a way for them to ensure that these property owners pay their taxes well. But just be.
